S. J. Harris discovered at a shockingly early age that one can do the Charleston, or one can cartoon, but to do both at the same time is to risk spilling one's martini on one's trousers. Nevertheless he soldiers damply on in a style which ranges between purist Art Deco and a more gothic version of same. A published writer and illustrator of frivolous gift books (for Nightingale Press) including the renowned 'Modern Guide to Hats', his cartoons graced the pages of Punch, Private Eye and The New York Schmo for many years until the librarian caught him defacing them and revoked his membership. Working somewhat improbably as 'spimcoot' drawing a cartoon called 'Paper Cuts', he currently appears on the BBC website's Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (h2g2), in its magazine section 'The H2G2 Post'.
